I grew up in Calvert, Texas. After graduating from high school, I studied at Baylor University and then proceeded into a teaching career in Corpus Christi, Texas. I later obtained a master's degree at the Corpus Christi State University. My professional career has been focused on primary school education, and bilingual schooling in particular.

During my free time, I have written short stories, non-fiction articles, and, less often, poetry. My current interest is the Hispanic immigrant experience in America.
